“The Wee Red Toon” Kirriemuir Tea Towel

“The Wee Red Toon” (The Little Red Town) Kirriemuir tea towel was created as a sell-able product to raise funds for a local Day Care centre in the beautiful wee town of, you guessed it, Kirriemuir.
The design needed to incorporate as many of the town’s notable landmarks and achievements as a way to encourage both locals and visitors to explore the sites the town has to offer and celebrate them!

One of Kirrie’s crowning jewels is that it’s the birthplace of Peter Pan’s author and play-write James Matthew Barrie. The design features small elements from the classic fairytale; such as the Lost Boys out on a hunt and Tinkerbell leaving a glittering trail around the map!

Between September and December of 2019, the tea towel sales managed to raise over £1500 for the Day Care, with folks purchasing the towel as gifts, stocking fillers and souvenirs for friends and family. Some, I have been told, were sent to relatives and loved ones as far America and South Africa!

The tea towels can still be purchased from several local and independently run businesses based in Kirriemuir and all proceeds continue to aid the Day Care Charity.
