Last Summer, Reicha7, a video-game Streamer on Twitch, required assets for their channel. These assets would involve their channel mascot, Rei-Chan, who also required a revamped design based on an initial concept.
The original concept (Left) was designed using a character creator app called Piccrew. The new design (Right) was to feature on most of the Twitch channel’s branding, such as profile pictures and Twitch screen banners, as seen below:
The banner backdrop itself features patterns based on Xbox and PlayStation console controllers and the palette compliments the mascot’s colour scheme: Purple, White and Black.
A couple of months later, I was commissioned again to create buttons for Reicha7. These would feature a more simplified image of Rei-Chan. As her design is heavily influenced by Japanese Anime/Manga art styles, the simple design was inspired by the Chibi art form.
I also saved out separate files of each individual Chibi so that they could be used as a sticker pack for a messaging app.
Around the time of creating these buttons, I also started creating Twitch Emotes for Reicha7’s subscribers to use in the Twitch Chat. This is an ongoing aspect of the project as emotes can be expanded on with increase in followers.
Additionally, as Reicha7 strives to be inclusive with their channel, I altered the ‘Heart’ emote to feature numerous flags from the LGBTQA+ community!
After Reicha7’s channel grew in popularity, we decided to create a Character Design Sheet for Rei-Chan, should fans and subscribers wish to create fan art and/or learn more about her character and details.
Around this time, Reicha7 also branched out their content into Pokémon Trading Card collecting and unveiling videos. To promote this, I created a verson of Rei-Chan in the Pokémon art style with Reicha7’s favourite Pokémon, Mareep.
Lastly, I created Subscriber badges. These are gained and upgraded by following a Twitch streamer for different lengths of time. Your Subscriber badge updates at a quarterly rate. We went with a gem and valued metals system, starting at Bronze and working your way up to Diamond.
